What makes a poet? Daring to make something named a poem. Can you be a poem? Can you be a beautiful story, or a song? How many unsung stories or untold poems whisper in your mind?
What do you have to lose if you dare to give them voice? If you live them? Our fragility in the cosmos is beyond imagining. Look only at the recent recognition of “waves” from the beginning of the universe, or at the minuscule space we occupy on our beautiful Earth’s timeline, to understand how precious and ephemeral our lives are. We are time, our heartbeats counting out our days in rhythm. Rhythm makes music, dance, song, story, poetry. Rhythm is breathing in and out –– our breath that connects us to all life and to our mother Earth.
Pay attention. What you see in your life is an answer to where you send your attention. If you don’t like what you see, change the way you’re looking. If you don’t like how you feel, change the way you’re communicating with your body, your breath, the flow of energy from where your feet connect with Earth’s deep forces, to the top of your head and beyond, where we aspire to spiritual enlightenment, which is with us all along. We walk in beautiful mystery, ours to explore.
I love to explore through the arts and through Qigong [chee-kung], a moving meditation with attention to breath and to the intentional movement of energy through and around my body. Because you may be curious about Qigong and energy work, but not yet sure how you can use it to make your life better in every way, you can try it out in my Introduction to Qigong and Personal Energy Work, at my Westside Bend studio, Sunday, May 4th, 1pm-3pm, in a casual, fun, easy setting. $20/person. Call me at 541.390.9652 or email [email protected] to register and with questions.
Happy Earth Day everyone!`
