A movie as spiritual practice? Why not? For more people than you might guess watching the 1993 classic Groundhog Day each February is a beloved ritual. It’s not a bad idea. The Bill Murray character is caught in a loop re-living February 2nd again and again. At first it’s a shocking nightmarish struggle for him, but once he grasps the rules and possibilities, and releases his desperate desire to escape, he steps onto a path toward enlightenment we can only envy – the chance for do-overs until he becomes authentically good at being human and reaps the rewards.

For me Qigong (“chee-kung”) is like that, just showing up for my personal practice for thirty minutes each day, letting my body make familiar movements, and being mindful of where my attention goes before my internal chatter quiets and my breathing deepens and calms. I get Qigong do-overs and rewards that make my life and relationships richer and happier. Enlightenment? Who knows?

It’s February already, two months into 2015! What do you want your life to be like by this time next year? If you learn and practice Qigong, this will be a year of adventure for you. When you come to my February 21st all-day Qigong class (for beginners or review) you will have fun and take a step along that path.
